This compilation of newsreel stories contains items on the following:~The Dedication of Montreal Bridge (1930). The opening of the Jacques Cartier Bridge, originally known as Harbour Bridge, in Montreal. Shots of the crowds attending the event, the bridge itself, and a speech by Fernand Rinfret, Secretary of State in the Mackenzie King cabinet.~Seattle strike. Men mill about, mounted police and a National Guard adjusting a machine gun behind sand bags.~World War I Recruiting in Quebec, 1915. A crowd of men demonstrating carrying banners bearing the slogans "Britons never shall be slaves" and "We stand by our elected government". Close-ups of a recruiting rally. Cuts to a Pathe News item of the 22nd Battalion drilling in Montreal before going overseas. Sequence on men marching down a city street toward the camera, with tramline wires overhead. Final shots of soldiers dressed in greatcoats marching round parade grounds outside barracks. ~A news item on the Dionne quintuplets. This shows the newly-born quints, Annette, Emilie, Yvonne, Cécile and Marie Dionne. Outside their parents' farmhouse at Callander, Ontario, the doctor who delivered them, Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe, and others, pose for the camera. The doctor arrives at the special hospital/nursery close to the Dionne house to check on the babies' progress. Nurses reporta and prepare the infants for their routine weigh-in and doctor's examination. Wearing gowns and masks, the staff bathe and dress the babies who then pose for the camera, first in a row and then in twos in the doctor's arms. Dr. Dafoe then talks to the camera about the primitive conditions into which the quintuplets were born, their subsequent careful nursing and attention, and hopeful prognosis. <7mn>
