Collection consists of genealogical charts, notes, crest, maps, letters, newspaper clippings and reminiscences of the Porteous family of Montreal, Que. covering the years ca. 1740 to 1947; and an updated version of the Porteous family genealogy covering the years 1722 to 1962, with notes on the Younger and Willett families. Photocopies, 163 pages.

Porteous (family) : John Porteous and his brother James migrated to Canada from Scotland ca. 1760. John received a grant of land in New Brunswick, and moved to Montreal in 1765 where he began an import-export business. He purchased property in Montreal in 1770. In 1771, he married Josette de Carqueville and they had five sons and five daughters.
