Fonds consists of annotated reminiscenses including Dowson's account of the Matheson fire of 1916; a voters list and election poster for the Ontario liquor control election of 1926; a copy of Dowson's "The Strange Story of the Schooner Speedy", 1972; a drawing of a settler's "Jumper" with Dowson's explanation of its use, 1971; a map of Vimy Mines and the Dowson property; and a clipping from the Northern News concerning the murder of John Jones of Porquis Junction, 1926. The fonds also contains photographs showing the Matheson fire and its aftermath, Matheson, Ontario, 29 July, 1916; shops in Matheson, Ontario; a view near Matheson, Ontario; group portraits of students at Jesse Ketchum School, Toronto, Ontario, 1916; portraits of members of the Dowson family, 1860-1920; a portrait of William C.H. Dowson, age 18, Sept. 1915; parish church, Bedford, Ontario; a photograph of Albert Tennant, mason, 1946; a group of Jewish carpenters, Toronto, Ontario, ca. 1920; and photos related to log turning, rivermen, and stone cutters, ca.1885-ca.1910. The fonds also includes a poster announcing a public meeting in Matheson of the U.F.O. (United Farmers of Ontario), ca.1923.
