The fonds consists of the diaries, 1960 to 1980, of Annemarie Chaplin. They were composed while the Chaplin family lived in Manotick and Ottawa and dealt mainly with home and community. Except for three gaps in the record during the 1960s (i.e. between August 1963 and June 1964, July 1964 and April 1966, and between November 1966 and May 1968), Mrs. Chaplin added to her diary regularly. However, the bulk of the diary records her concerns from 1968 to 1980.

Chaplin, Annemarie, 1928-1980 : Annemarie Chaplin (née Harris) was born on 1 April 1929. She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from McGill University. She married Philip Chaplin, formerly a historian with the History Directorate, D.N.D. Mr. and Mrs. Chaplin, have three children: David, Philippa and Andrew. Mrs. Chaplin was Curator of the Bytown Museum in Ottawa at the time of her death on 24 September 1980.
