Fonds consists of minutes of the Wartime Industries Control Board, 1940-1945, copies of the Controllers' Bulletin, 1941-1943, correspondence, memoranda and notes concerning the work of the Board, 1943-1945, two manuscripts, 1943 and 1946, and correspondence 1946, 1948, and 1968 relating to a history of the Wartime Industries Control Board, and an autographed souvenir pamphlet and menu marking the closure of the Department of Munitions and Supply, 1946.

Fonds also contains fifty photographs ca. 1865, 1894-1950. Included are depictions of personnel on various federal boards during WWII; photomechanical reproductions including three stereoscope views, 1894-1896, and approximately 300 postcards depicting civil engineering works, scenic views, and locations in Canada and the United States.

Biography/Administrative history:

Hehner, Eric O.W., 1912-1990 : Eric O.W. Hehner (1912-1990), civil servant, was economist to the T. Eaton Company, Toronto, then was loaned to the Department of Munitions and Supply for the duration of the Second World War. He served as Assistant Secretary, 1941-1944, and Associate Secretary, 1944-1945, of the Wartime Industries Control Board. Following the dissolution of the WICB, he continued for a short period as a Special Assistant in the Department of Reconstruction and Supply, writing a history of the Wartime Industries Control Board and closing out the remaining wartime controls. After leaving Government service, he became a consultant in Ottawa, specializing in business-government relations. He later joined Corporation House Limited, a management consultant firm, serving as its Chairman.
