Fonds consists of a South African War diary, 1899; World War I diary, 1915-1918; correspondence, reports, clippings and photographs, relating to the discovery and operation of the Alexo Nickle Mine, 1910-1951; election posters and clippings, from Pullen's unsuccessful attempt in the 1920 federal by-election in the district of Timiskaming.

Pullen, Ernest F., b. 1880 : Ernest Fleetwood Pullen was born in Oakville, Ont. He served in the South African War with the Royal Canadian Regiment. Following graduation from the University of Toronto, he went to Northern Ontario with the Transcontinental Railway Survey party in 1906. He became associated with the Alexo Nickle Mine in the vicinity of Porcupine and took charge of the development of the mine in 1912.

In 1915, he joined the 159th Battalion at Haileybury, and later served as major with the 8th Battalion Light Railway Troops in the Ypres salient. He was a defeated candidate for the Conservative party for North Timiskaming in the 1920 federal election. He became president and general manager of Alexo Coal Co. Ltd. in 1920.
