Fonds consists of letters and correspondence, 1841-1870, from A.N. Morin, James Morris Edward Ellice, Sir Edmund Head, and others, regarding financial and political matters such as Union in 1841, responsible government, financial statements of government, and formation of the ministry. A letter of A.N. Morin to Sir Francis Hincks, 8 May 1841, has been published in the Public Archives Report for 1883, pages 168-173.

Hincks, Francis, Sir, 1807-1885 : Sir Francis Hincks, politician, was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1841. He was appointed Receiver General in 1842, but retired from office in November 1843, with the Baldwin-La Fontaine administration. In 1848, he became Inspector General and in 1851, leader of the Hincks-Morin Ministry. This Ministry was forced to resign in September 1854, and in 1855, Hincks left Canada to become Governor-in-Chief of Barbados and the Windward Islands. In 1862, he became Governor of British Guiana. He returned to Canada in 1869, to become Minister of Finance. In 1873 he resigned, and a year later left politics.
