Federation of Medical Women of Canada : The Federation of Medical Women of Canada was founded in Ottawa in 1924 through the efforts of six women who had received medical training and who were either medical practitioners or who were involved with administration or teaching. The organization acts as a forum for the interchange of ideas, and as a lobby group for women in medicine. One of its primary concerns has been the training of medical women and one of its projects has been the Maude Abbott Scholarship Loan programme to financially assist female medical students. The federation is affiliated with the Canadian Medical Association and with the Medical Women's International Association.

In 1974 the federation sponsored the publication of The Indomitable Lady Doctors, a history of medical women in Canada, as a 50th anniversary project.
