Treasury 47 consists of 23 volumes, etc., of registers including a wide variety of subjects. The entries in the lists include the names of the emigrant ships, their masters and ports of embarkation; the names, ages, and sometimes the relationships to each other of the emigrants; the destinations of the emigrants, their occupations, former places of residence, and reasons for emigrating. The last mentioned information relates their movement very clearly to the agrarian revolution in England and the rack-renting policy of the Scottish Highland proprietors. The majority of the emigrants were from the North of England and Scotland. Microfilm reel C-13524.
