Series consists of World War I files containing letters by H. Anson Green to his parents relating his attempts to enlist in the Armed Forces in Toronto and his observations of wartime Toronto. There are also files of letters and post cards from Green to his mother and aunt, a pocket diary, and military school notes. These files briefly outline his military training in Montreal and transport to Halifax for embarkation overseas, life in East and West Sandling Camps, Kent, and Ceasar's Camp, Shorncliffe, England, observations on English prices, trips to London, the unsuitability of Canadian issued military equipment, military routine, and trench conditions in France, and telegrams and letters concerning Green's wounding, recovery, and hospital conditions.

The World War II files contain Green family correspondence with cousins in England on wartime shortages, rationing, evacuation, and other related war conditions. In addition there is printed material such as ration coupon books, booklets on The Protection of Child Refugees, Air Raid Production, and Back to Civil Life, and St. John Ambulance certificates.
