Sub-series consists of correspondence and registers relating to medal recipients. Volume 1 contains lists of recipients of the Military General Service Medal for service in the Canadian Militia during the War of 1812, correspondence and receipts for the loan of medals remaining in the Adjutant General's Office, 1867-1896.
Correspondence, 1897-1903, from applicants for the Canada General Service Medal is also found in volume 1. Medal registers listing recipients by unit within each military district are found in volumes 2-9. There is, in addition, a register of recipients from the British Army in volume 10. A card index has been prepared and copies of the registers and index are available on reels C-15726 to C-15729 and C-1861 to C-1863).
The sub-series includes registers of recipients of the North West Canada 1885 medal. One register lists recipients who were members of the North West Field Force (Vol. 11) and the other is for the North West Mounted Police (Vol. 12). Both registers have been microfilmed (reel C-1863). A card index to the registers and to lists of teamsters and transport officers has also been microfilmed (reels C-15729 to C-15731).
Registers of Canadian recipients of the Queen's South Africa Medal are found in volume 13-15. Microfilm copies are available on reel C-1863) and a card index has been prepared.
A card index to the names of members of the Canadian Coronation Contingent who received medals commemorating the 1902 Coronation is available on reel C-15731. A nominal roll of the contingent will be found in Record Group 24, volume 5917, file HQ51-15-1. A nominal roll for the contingent sent to the coronation of King George V in 1911 will be found in RG 24, Vol. 5927, file HQ 89-2-17.
The sub-series includes a register of recipients of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal, 1902-1950 (Vols. 16, 18, 19); the Meritorious Service Medal and Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, 1903-1944 (Vol. 17); the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration, 1902-1945 (Vol. 20; reel C-6770). Some correspondence relating to the award of these medals will be found in Volume 1.
