Series consists of central registry files created and maintained by the Ontario Regional Office., Series also contains a map [ca. 1875] of the Indian reserve consisting of the township of Tuscarora and a part of the township of Onondaga in the county of Brant and part of the township of Oneida in the county of Haldimand in the province of Ontario.

Indian and Inuit Affairs Program (Canada). Ontario Region : When an independent Department of Indian Affairs was established in 1880, administration in Ontario was based on a system of superintendents and agents. First the Central, then the Western and eventually the Northern superintendencies were abolished with the result that responsibility for operations in the province devolved upon the local agents and inspectors. The office of Inspector of Indian Agencies in Ontario was abolished in the late 1940s and Regional Supervisor of Indian Agencies positions created for Northern and Southern Ontario, in Toronto and North Bay, respectively. In 1966 the Northern and Southern Regions were combined to form the Ontario Region, under a Regional Director, with headquarters in Toronto. The Region is divided into Districts according to administrative needs. RG10 General Inventory.
