Photographic material created by Roloff Beny during his travels in Iran, in 1963 and the period 1973-1977. His first trip was to ancient historical sites of Persepolis and the Palace of Adashir at Firuzabad for "Pleasure of Ruins". Latterly in the 70s, Roloff Beny lived in Iran and travelled to all provinces to create material for his two volumes "Persia:Bridge of Turquoise" and "Iran:Elements of Destiny'. This subseries contains a comprehensive collection of images from Iran, including pictorial views of landscapes from the Persian Gulf to the Mountains of the north. Also included are documentary images of the inhabitants at work, worship, social events and daily life. A large portion of this material is devoted to the Pahlavi family on holiday on Kish Island, in official ceremonial roles, and at home in their official residences.
