Sub-series contains aperture cards which consist of images of original registers. Each aperture card consists of a microfiche image held in a paper index card. In most cases each image is one page of the original register. The registers are also known as RG15 aperture cards books 134 to 148.

The registers itemize the individual land subsidy grants awarded to railway companies, namely the Canadian Pacific Railway, Manitoba and South-Eastern Railway, Calgary and Edmonton Railway, The Great North-West Central Railway, Saskatchewan and Western Railway, The Canadian Northern Railway, The Manitoba and North-Western Railway, Qu'Appelle Long Lake and Saskatchewan Railway and Steamboat Company, Alberta Railway and Coal Company (Alberta Railway and Irrigation Company), The Grand Truck Pacific Railway, The Manitoba South-Western Colonization Railway Company, and The Manitoba and North-Western Railway Company. Each register is organized numerically, by the grant number. Each entry provides a description of the land awarded, the size of the grant, the fiat reference number, the date of the land patent, and the liber and folio number of the land patent.

This sub-series also includes the original register for Alberta Railway and Coal Company (Alberta Railway and Irrigation Company). The original register can be found in R190 vol 3207. The aperture card copies of this register are also known as aperture card book 144.

Custodial history:

The aperture cards in this sub-series were created by a successor to the Department of the Interior sometime between 1948 and 1970. They were copied from original registers and ledgers and most of the originals were then destroyed. The aperture cards were then transferred to the National Archives in the early 1970s.

RG15 Aperture Card books were available in the LAC reference room until January 2023.
