The correspondence consists of letters, cards and notes to Grant Munro and some copies of replies. Included is an undated note from Norman McLaren, an invitation to be on the Annecy Film Festival jury 1960, an invitation to a McLaren Retrospective, correspondence regarding Grant Munro's work in Cuba 1974, and two letters from cartoonist Lynn Johnston along with some related documentation 1980-1985.

Additional correspondence includes some fifteen letters and notes (some illustrated) from Norman McLaren n.d., 1945-1986, discussing Munro's career, McLaren's films, and other subjects. There are six letters from the French filmmaker Jacques Baratier, discussing Munro's involvement with an animated film project "La Poupee" 1960, as well as a copy of a letter from Munro to Baratier; four letters or cards from the Swedish actress, director and writer Mai Zetterling n.d., 1984; and six letters or cards from the American actress and comedian Lily Tomlin 1976, 1997-1999.

Other correspondents are the animated filmmakers Lotte Reiniger n.d. and Claire Parker 1960; "Punch" magazine n.d.; actresses Joyce Grenfell 1967 and Jane Davis 1978; director Martha Coolidge 1975; writer Marjorie Rosen n.d., 1977; former colleague at the National Film Board Lady (Margaret Ann) Elton 1978, 1987; Irina Raetz, daughter of Bronislava Nijinska, 1988; woodcarver David Esterly 1990; translator Lucia Alvarez de Toledo 1991-1992; and poet P.K. Page 1994.

Also included is some National Film Board correspondence, with a carbon copy of a confidential memo written by Munro in 1965 and a copy of a letter from Guy Glover discussing the meaning of the film "Toys".
