Central Ontario Railway : The Central Ontario Railway, incorporated under Ontario Act, 45 Vic., Cap. 61 of 10 March 1882, was the Prince Edward County Railway Company under new ownership and management. It became primarily a mining and exploration railway and between 1884 and 1911 an additional 123.38 miles of line were built northward as far as Wallace, Ontario. The line was purchased by Mackenzie and Mann on 5 April 1909. On 8 June 1954 the corporate existence of the Central Ontario Railway ended on 8 June 1954 when it became part of Canadian Northern Consolidated Railways, which latter company amalgamated with Canadian National Railways in 1956.
