Fonds comprises original editorial cartoons by Dan Murphy, published in the Vancouver Province, dating 1984-1998. National, international and provincial personalities and issues are covered. National leaders include all Prime Ministers beginning with the last years of Pierre Elliott Trudeau's reign through to the second term of Jean Chrétien. Prominent Cabinet Ministers lampooned include Lloyd Axworthy, Pat Carney, Jean Charest, Sheila Copps, John Crosbie, Don Mazankowski, John Nunziata, Sinclair Stevens, John Turner, and Michael Wilson. Party leaders and Premiers depicted include Robert Bourassa, Lucien Bouchard, Joe Clark, Grant Devine, Gilles Duceppe, Don Getty, Michael Harcourt, Preston Manning, Jacques Parizeau, Brian Tobin, and Bill Vander Zalm. International politicians portrayed include George Bush, Bill Clinton, Saddam Hussein, Manuel Noriega, Ronald Reagan, and Margaret Thatcher.

Canadian issues of note include constitutional debates, elections, national unity, federal-provincial relations, the fishing and forestry industries, environmental concerns, racism, the economy and free trade. Internationally, Murphy covers such issues as armed conflicts, terrorism, poverty, the oil industry and the Middle East.
