Series consists of 17 maps related directly to the First World War, mainly ordnance and field surveys, depicting trench lines, distribution of forces, military structures, lines, etc., many by the Geographical Section, General Staff, the Field Survey Company and also advance sections, the A.P. and S.S. and the Ordnance Survey Office; 9 aerial photographs depicting locations in northern France, by the G.S. Intelligence, First Army and Branch Intelligence Section, Canadian Corps; and 19 maps, many of them ordnance surveys, of towns and cities in Northern France and Belgium, by the War Office, the Ordnance Survey Office, and the Geographical Section, General Staff.

Bovey, Wilfred, 1882-1956 : Lieutenant-Colonel Wilfred Bovey, military officer, educator, author, born in 1882 at Montreal, Que., received his education from McGill University, B.A., 1903, and Cambridge University, L.L.D., 1906. He was called to the Quebec bar in 1907 and practised in Montreal from 1917 to 1923.

Lieutenant-Colonel Wilfrid Bovey served with the Canadian Corps Headquarters during World War I. From 1923 to 1946 Colonel Bovey was director of Extramural Relations and Extension at McGill University. He was also Chairman of the Canadian Legion Educational Service, and in 1942 he was appointed to the Legislative Council of Quebec.
