This sub-series consists of photographs made by Ken Bell as a photographer in the Canadian Army Film and Photo Unit during the Second World War. The images include Canadian army personnel, their activities and operations, as well as civilian life during war and prisoners of war. In addition, this series contains notable figure, Winston Churchill. This series also contains a film reel of "D-Day Jitters" (1944), an episode from the Canadian Paramount News series which features a comparison of the D-Day and Dieppe lands. Many of his images are in print form mounted on black board with book layout information for his books: "The Way We Were", "Not in Vain", and "Curtain Call". In addition to Ken Bell's own photographs, images from the German Archives, British War Museum and the U.S. National Archives that were used in his books are included in this series. There are also notes on the layout and promotional material for his book "Curtain Call".
The series is not only exclusive to images of war but also include images during peacetime. This includes photographic documentation of the changes that occurred after 5, 10, and 25 years to the social and physical landscape of Europe after the war, as well as portraits of soldiers 25 years later.
