Left hand side of map only, depicting Western hemisphere. The hemisphere is surrounded by elaborate depictions of gods and goodesses of Greek mythology in the heavens along the top, while the bottom depicts groups of allegoricall figures and animals representing the continents.

Ram, Johannes de, 1648-1693 : Engraver, publisher, globemaker and art dealer of Amsterdam. Ram issued atlases with maps by various geographers as well as producing some maps himself including a world map. In 1689 he acquired the Blaeu publishing company. In 1683 he published his famous map Novissima totius terrarum orbis which found its way into several copies of Johannes van Keulen's Zee-Atlas.

Fragment; western hemisphere only.
Pictorial relief.
This map was published in atlas by both Ram and Johannes van Keulen. It appeared in Ram's "Atlas", ca. 1690 and in Keulen's "De Groote Nieuwe Vermeerderde Zee Atlas ofte Water-Werelt", 1683.
