Accession consists of records created or maintained by the Office of the Transportation Policy Adviser of the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce (ITC). Operating conseqeutively under the Industry, Trade and Traffic Branch and later the Transportation Services Branch, the Office was responsible for research and analysis in the transportation services industry and related policy advice.

Subjects include monthly and annual reports, the Interdepartmental Committee on Shipping Conferences, and the Interdepartmental Committee on Trade Distribution.

Prior to 1969, many of these records were created or maintained by the Transportation and Trade Services Branch of the Department of Trade and Commerce.
