They settled in Winnipeg where Paul became involved with the Winnipeg New Theatre and the University of Manitoba's Dramatic Society, appearing in the title role of its production of "The Man Who Came to Dinner", 1941, and directing "Waiting for Lefty". He also performed in radio dramas for the CBC. Kligman joined the RCAF and was stationed in Vancouver in 1943. He married Anne Rabinovitch in 1945 and, with her father, ran a clothing store in Vancouver until 1950. As well, he worked on local radio and in 1947 began a six year association with Theatre Under the Stars, which produced musicals in Stanley Park during the summer.
In 1950 Paul Kligman moved to Toronto where he played in the Earle Grey Players production of "The Tempest" with John Drainie. Kligman was a co-founder of Jupiter Theatre in 1951. He played in Wayne and Shuster's "Mother Goose" which toured Toronto, Montreal and London, Ont. in 1951 and continued to be associated with Wayne and Shuster throughout his career. Kligman was with the revue "Spring Thaw", 1956-1960, performed in "The Optimist" with Robert Goulet at Toronto's Avenue Theatre, 1956, and in the revue "Jubilee" with Dave Broadfoot, 1969. He was heard in many CBC radio dramas, and appeared on a number of television programmes.
During the 1960s, Kligman teamed up with comic Ed McNamara in CBC's "Just Noodlin". They went on to create their own comedy show, "The Paul Kligman and Ed McNamara Show". The two collaborated on a number of drama scripts, and Kligman wrote many more himself. During the 1970s Kligman returned to the stage appearing in "Othello" and "Enemy of the People" in Edmonton, "The Dybbuk" in Winnipeg and "Madness of God" and "Dispossessed" in Montreal. He wrote the autobiographical radio play "It All Ends Up in a Shopping Bag" which was also published as a novel and adapted for the stage. He was also instrumental in establishing Actor's Equity in Canada.Information additionnelle :Note générale :Received in 1986 and 1987 from Paul Kligman's widow, Anne Kligman of Toronto, Ont.Vedette-matière :- Actors - Canada, 1941-1985 Doherty Television Productions, 1951
