Goldenberg worked with Chrétien during the bulk of his career and as such, the fonds consists of records created as his advisor during their tenures with the Treasury Board, the Department of Industry Trade and Commerce and the Department of Finance. Fonds also consists of records created as the Senior Advisor on Constitutional Matters for the Minister of Justice and as Senior Policy Advisor to the Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources and is comprised mainly of briefing notes, reports and memoranda.
The fonds also contains a video recording of a television promo sponsored by Energy, Mines and Resources.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Goldenberg, Edward S., 1948- : Eddie Goldenberg, public servant, received his Bachelor of Arts Degree after completing the Economics and Political Science Program at McGill University in 1969. Additional Diplomas include: Master of Arts, 1971, and Bachelor of Civil Law, 1974. He was called to the Bar of Quebec, 1975, and the Bar of Ontario, 1985. His public service appointments include: Special Assistant to the President of the Treasury Board, 1975-1976; Executive Assistant to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Commerce, 1976-1977; and Executive Assistant to the Minister of Finance 1977-79. After the Liberals' loss in 1979, Goldenberg joined the local law firm of Lang, Michener, Cranston, Farquharson and Wright. He took leave in 1980 to act as: Senior Advisor on Constitutional Matters for the Minister of Justice, 1980-1982; and Senior Policy Advisor to the Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, 1982-1984. In 1984, he rejoined Lang Michener and became a partner in 1986.
