Selected portions of the papers of Lord Beaverbrook relating to Canadian affairs were microfilmed from originals in the House of Lords, microfilm reels A-1727 to A-1779.

Bennett, and Arthur Meighan, photographed by G. Stroud and Jacob Young Mersereau.Provenance:Additional name(s):Biography/Administrative history:Beaverbrook, Lord, 1879-1964 : William Maxwell Aitken, known also as Lord Beaverbrook and Max Aitken, a publisher, politician and philanthropist, was born in 1893 at Maple, Ont., and became a successful businessman before immigrating to the United Kingdom in 1910. He sat as a Unionist Member of the British House representing Ashton-under-Lyne, 1910-1916 and worked for Empire free trade. In 1916 he entered the House of Lords as Lord Beaverbrook. He was Chancellor of the Exchequer and Minister of Information, 1918, Minister for Aircraft Production, 1940-1941, Minister of State, 1941, Minister of Supply, 1941-1942 and Lord Privy Seal, 1943-1945. He acquired control of the Daily Express in 1916 and subsequently built a publishing empire.
