The fonds also contains photographs depicting various ceremonies and views from the Parliament Buildings, Ottawa, Ont., as well as photographic portraits of Hon. R. F. Biography/Administrative history:Sutherland, Robert F., 1859-1922 : Robert Franklin Sutherland, born in 1859 at New Market, Ont., attended the Universities of Toronto and Western Ontario. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1886. He served the Windsor community in several capacities including city Alderman, president of Windsor's St. Andrew's Society and president of the Library Board.
He was elected to the House of Commons for North Essex in 1900, 1904 and 1908, and resigned in 1909. From 1905 to 1908, he was Speaker of the House of Commons and in 1909, was made a member of the Privy Council. He was appointed judge of the High Court of Justice, Exchequer Division 1909-1912 and was a puisne judge of the High Court Division, Supreme Court of Ontario from 1909 until his death in 1922.
