Also included are sound recordings of oral history interviews by Charles Granger with public figures who were active in the entry of Newfoundland into Confederation.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Granger, Charles Ronald McKay, 1912- : Charles Ronald McKay Granger, member of Parliament, was born in 1912 at Catalina, Nfld., 1912. He was educated at St. Peter's High School in Catalina and became a journalist after graduation.
Granger was a President of Eastern Agencies Ltd. of Gander, Newfoundland. He served as an editor of the Fishermen's Advocate and as a President of the Fishermen's Protective Union. Granger also served as the Deputy Minister of Highways for Newfoundland.
Granger was a Member of Parliament, representing Grand Falls- White Bay-Labrador, Nfld., 1958 to 1966. From 9 January 1966 to 1 August 1966 Granger was the Parliamentary Secretery to the Minister of Fisheries. Granger resigned 1 August 1966 and immediately won election to the House of Assembly of Newfoundland as the Liberal member for Gander. He was appointed Minister of Labrador Affairs on 1 August 1966.
