(George Clyde), 1898-1965 : George Clyde Nowlan, born in 1898 at Havelock, N.S., received his education from Acadia University, B.A., and Dalhousie University, LL.B. He practised law at Wolfville, N.S. During World War I, he served overseas as a gunner.
He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia from 1925 until his defeat in 1933. He was a Member of Parliament representing Annapolis-King's, N.S., from 1948 to 1949 and then representing Annapolis-King's and Digby-Annapolis-King's, from 1950 until his death in 1965.
He was appointed to the Privy Council, 1957, and served as Minister of National Revenue, 1957-1962, and Minister of Finance and Receiver General, 1962-1963. He also served as the President of the Progressive Conservative Association of Canada 1950 to 1954.
