Gamble, John Albert, 1933- : Born in Perth, Ontario, John Gamble was educated at the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School. He became a corporate and tax lawyer. He was first elected to the House of Commons in 1979 for the riding of York North and was re-elected in 1980. Gamble served as Chairman of the Progressive Conservative Task Force on Tax Simpification from 1983 to 1984. He campaigned for a leadership convention to be held during the review of Joe Clark's leadership at the Winnipeg convention of January, 1983 and was an unsuccessful candidate for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party in June 1983, gathering 17 votes. He was defeated in 1984.
