Godfrey, John Morrow, 1912- : John Godfrey was born in Port Credit, Ontario. He was educated at the University of Toronto, Royal Military College, and Osgoode Hall Law School where he was the Silver Medallist. Between 1940 and 1945 he served with the R.C.A.F. as a pilot. He became a partner at the Toronto law firm of Campbell, Godfrey, Lewtas and was active in the Liberal Party beginning in the late 1950's. Godfrey directed corporate fund raising as Chairman of both the Finance and Treasury Committees from 1968 until 1974. He was appointed to the Senate on 1 October 1973, and retired from the Senate on 28 June 1987.
