Collection search - Accounting ledgers of the Accounting Department, Prince Edward Island Railway [textual record]

This accession consists of five accounting ledgers that were compiled by personnel in the Accounting Department of the P.E.I. Railway during the latter 1800s, early 1900s.
Included is a register of unclaimed employee wages (1881-1906), a journal used to record month end accounting adjustments to various Railway accounts (1887-1899), a register of payments made to various individuals and companies (1896-1899), a general ledger which was used to record expenditures incurred by various departments of the Railway (road, stores, mechanical) and payments to government departments such as Marine & Fisheries, Militia and Post Office (1883-1899) as well as a record of incoming letters (1906-1913) that concern such items as incorrect invoice amounts, ticket refunds, vouchers and other account-related documents.

Textual records: The 'General' and 'Journal' ledgers are in good condition; the remaining ledgers have a mix of damage to same, including detached spines, cover tears and separation, loose pages and dust coverage.
