Sub-series consists of registers of remission for persons involved in criminal offences, 1888-1954 (Vols. 1326-1366). The entries usually include a brief description of the crime committed, the sentence imposed and whether a ticket of leave (parole) was granted. Although these give names of persons for whom there are files, these registers do not provide an adequate finding aid for the prisoner case files. These registers can best be used to provide a general overview of the branch's work. Volume 1326 is an index to volume 1329 (1891) and to missing registers for 1888-1890. Volumes 1327-1328 are indexes to registers which are apparently not part of this sub-series.
