The accession contains some employee-related records and miscellaneous personal service and other contracts issued by The Grand Trunk Railway of Canada.
Included in the former category is a record of salaries paid to GTR foremen and clerks of the Locomotive and Car Departments (1859-1910), some semi-annual returns of Grand Trunk Railway accident and casualty lists for the period June, 1858 - December, 1864 and Canadian National Railways Southern Ontario employee service records for the period ca. 1910 to 1930.
The contracts are for the provision of various goods (e.g. firewood) and services, construction, repair and maintenance of GTR rail lines and structures such as bridges, during the period 1859-1877. Also included is an 1859 deed for the conveyance of land to the GTR for workmen's cottages at Pointe St. Charles.
