Accession consists of photographic material related to the career of Dr. Charles Stanley McVicar.
The photographs consist of one roll panorama of The Dominion Orthopedic Hospital Patients & Staff, Toronto, 1920; portraits of Dr. Charles Stanley McVicar and his family; photos taken in Rochester, New York, USA, while he was working at the Mayo Clinic, 1920-1929; group portraits of Strathcona Horse Regiment, including Charles S. McVicar, before the Regiment went to the Boer War in South Africa; glass lantern slides were taken during WW I in Salonika, Greece, as Charles S. McVicar serves with the Second Regiment of Canadian Mounted Rifles, 1914-1918. He served as chief of Medicine in the Orpington General Hospital, England. The slides show his overseas activities, departure from Canada aboard Ship VALDIVIA, Canadian troops, hospitals, wounded soldiers, nurses, field ambulances, city views, military camps, barracks, men, women and children in Salonika, Greece.
Accession consists of manuscripts and offprints of medical articles by McVicar; his diaries for the South African War, his first year as a doctor (1909) and the First World War; an account book 1926-1929 as well as membership material and medical articles by others.
