Indian and Eskimo Affairs Program (Canada). Miramichi Agency : The Miramichi Agency in New Brunswick was created in 1949 (Order in Council 115/6388, 22 December 1949), the bands under its jurisdiction having previously been administered through the North East Agency. The Miramichi Agency merged with the St. John River Agency to form the New Brunswick District on July 1, 1971. At that time the Miramichi Agency's responsibilities included the following bands: Big Cove, Buctouche, Burnt Church, Eel Ground, Fort Folly, Indian Island, Pabineau, Red Bank, Eel River. The Eel River Band had been transferred from the Restigouche Agency to the Miramichi Agency in 1962. Regional Administrative Histories, 1958-1990, (Bands, Agencies, Districts).
