The accession consists of operational registry files of the Program Branch for the years 1966-1988. The Program Branch is responsible for the analysis of departmental plans, programs and organizational proposals and for recommendations to Treasury Board on acceptance or modification of proposals in accordance with the financial and other priorities of the government. It is responsible for developing the estimates which reflect the expenditure decisions of the government for presentation to Parliament. The records in this accession document various departments and agencies in relation to the review of their programs, budgets, Multi-year Operational Plans, and estimates together with policy files on the more general topics of budget coordination, decentralization, the expenditure management system. Other records relate to briefs, parliamentary matters, capital projects and supply.
