Accession consists of immigration case files pertaining to investors (8590) and entrepreneurs (8600) as well as a number of other case files from the 8300 and 8585 series. Each case file consists of generic forms, detailed correspondence and pertinent supporting documentation. For similar immigration records, consult the Regional Office Series in RG118 (Records of the Department of Employment and Immigration) and the Human Resources Development Canada fonds (R4315).

This accession consists of immigration records that were transferred to the National Archives of Canada by Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC). HRDC has never been formally responsible for the immigration function, however when it was established in 1993, it assumed partial responsibility for the Canada Employment Centres (CEC) and Canada Immigration Centres (CIC). This resulted from the complicated devolution of responsibilities in the regions following the establishment of HRDC. It should be noted, however, that even prior to the creation of HRDC there is evidence that the labour and employment functions of the Department of Employment and Immigration were sometimes mixed. This has resulted in some immigration records being held at Canada Employment Centre.
