The fonds comprises the following series: A - Émery Lavigne; B - Léontine Lavigne Mauffette; C - Estelle Mauffette; D - Lucien Thériault; E - Press Clippings and Biographical Notes; F - Photographs and Tintypes.Provenance:Additional name(s):Biography/Administrative history:Lavigne, Émery, 1859-1902 : Younger brother of Ernest, founder of Sohmer Park, and of Arthur, a music dealer in Québec City, he studied organ with R.O. Pelletier in Montréal. With the exception of a period in Oswego, New York (1878-1883), Émery Lavigne's career as an organist, accompanist and teacher took place in Montréal. In 1893 he founded the Haydn Trio; about the same time he was appointed an adjudicator at the Académie de musique de Montréal.
Lavigne-Mauffette, Léontine, 1879-1939 : Daughter of Émery Lavigne, she was born in Oswego. At the turn of the century, she gave a few piano concerts, notably at the Ladies' Morning Musical Club, and was a member of the Montréal cathedral choir.
Mauffette, Estelle, 1904-1984 : Daughter of Léontine Lavigne-Mauffette, she was born in Montréal. After studying dramatic art with Jeanne Maubourg, she performed many roles in CBC radio plays. She was the first to play the role of Donalda on the program Un homme et son péché by Claude-Henri Grignon. She also had a career as a monologist and wrote the words to some songs set to music by Hector Gratton.
Thériault, Lucien, 1897-1983 : Husband of Bérengère Mauffette, daughter of Léontine Lavigne-Mauffette, Thériault was a producer with Radio-Canada.
