The series consists of records created for the management of the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA) by the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority (SLSA). It consists of general records on the management of the bridge, but also records on accidents, law and regulations, finance and budgets, construction contracts, annual inspections, repairs and maintenance contracts for the bridge or its associate buildings (canadian customs, tolls plaza, etc.) The series also consists of deeds of land, leases and permits.

The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority : The Thousand Islands Bridge is an international bridge over the Saint Lawrence River connecting northern New York in the United States with Ivy Lea near Gananoque in southern Ontario in Canada. Constructed in 1937, with additions in 1959, the bridge spans the United States - Canada border in the middle of the Thousand Islands region, from which it derives its name. Since 1976, the bridge has been administered by the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA), an international agency.

Canadian interests are represented by two Canadians who sit on the board of directors of the corporation, one of whom is also the President of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority. An operation agreement in place between the two Authorities allows for the TIBA to manage, operate and maintain the Bridge as a single venture. In 1998, the Canadian responsibility for TIBA passed from the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority to the Federal Bridge Corporation.
