This map was published by Bowen circa 1747 and was included in an as yet undetermined atlas. The map centers on the Gulf of St. Lawrence and shows the Eastern maritime area in good detail with numerous place names. A later issue or state of this map was published in 1752 in: A complete Atlas, or District view of the known World. The map appeared as plate 63 and the only significant difference is in the spelling of "Cape Breton". On the 1752 ... map "Breton" is spelled "Briton" both in the title and on the map. Also on this map the plate number 63 is found in the lower left, however, it is obvious that a plate number (possibly "No. 95") was erased from the lower right.
