L'auteur du portrait, Anson Dickinson, déménage au Canada en 1818. A.B. Durand, le graveur, met un terme à cette activité en 1836.Additional name(s):Additional information:General note:Selon l'article rédigé par Michelle Guitard dans le « Dictionary of Canadian Biography », en 1824, Jacques Viger, un ami de Salaberry, [traduction libre] « lance une campagne dans le but de faire fabriquer une gravure de Salaberry, 'qui occupe déjà une place dans l'histoire'. Le graveur, Asher Brown Durand de New York, conçoit le portrait à partir d'un modèle réduit, oeuvre d'un artiste new-yorkais, Anson Dickinson. »
