This accession consists of Third Central Registry (5000 block) subject files and some case files records created by the Prairie Regional Office of Employment and Immigration Canada (at Winnipeg) relating to immigration issues in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the N.W.T. between about 1970 and 1977. The files contain original correspondence between the regional office and the district-offices, internal regional records, and copies of Headquarters material. Subjects covered include immigration policy generally, local reaction to the 1975 Green Paper, liaison with community and ethnic organizations, a variety of specific immigration issues, and administration of programs in the region, districts and specific ports of entry. Some case files, case-like files and collections of case material are found throughout, filed under specific subject blocks, sometimes distinguished by special file jackets.
