This accession consists of three (3) boxes (052885-052887) of Accident Prevention and Compensation Branch (APCB) records created by the Sydney Office of Labour Canada. The files contain reports and investigations of health and safety violations, working condiditions, and accidents in various Cape Breton mines and industries.
Box 1 (052885) contains safety consultant reports, safety operations, and stonedust sampling survey files. Also included are subject files on mining safety legislation and standards, Labour Canada's occupational health and safety educational programs in the region, and several administrative and personnel files.
Box 2 (052886) is comprised of safety consultant reports, educational training and statistics concerning health and safety related issues, and colliery accident summaries.
Finally Box 3 (052887) includes accident reports, investigations, and inquiry files containing documentation such as safety consultant reports, particular investigations undertaken at various collieries, and accident investigations.
