43.80 m of textual record.Langue du document :anglaisInformation additionnelle :Note générale :The Prairie Regional Station of the Division for Building Research was established by the National Research Council in Saskatoon in 1948, as an off-shoot of the main facility in Ottawa. The Station was tasked with providing information on building technology and carrying out research relevant to the needs of the construction industry in the prairie region. The Station was privatized in 1991.
Accession consists of research materials from the National Research Council Prairie Regional Station in Saskatoon. Included are administrative files; financial records; photos, negatives and index cards; slides; and files from individuals that worked at the Station, including CP Hedlin, ME Lux, Larry Snodgrass, R Dumont, D Figley and Jim Hamilton. Also included are various 'miscellaneous' files.
Boxes 1-146 containing textual records are held in the Regional Service Centre in Winnipeg. Boxes 147-150 containing reel-to-reel tapes with data from roofing tests are held by Library and Archives of Canada in the National Capital Region; these reel-to-reel tapes are recommended for removal.
The records cover the following file groupings of research and administrative material:
1. Administrative records (boxes 1-10) which consist of correspondence, reports, requests for information and the like.
2. Financial records (boxes 11-13) which consist of requisitions, invoices, travel vouchers and related material.
3. Photographs, negatives and index cards (boxes 14-16) which consist of photo negatives and index cares with photos mounted on them, relating to various research projects.
4. Slides (boxes 17-48) which consist of images of winter problems, snow loads, building damage, damage to foundations, etc.
5. Research files of CP Hedlin (boxes 49-81) relating to moisture absorption, detectors, electrical resistance, etc. Also included are a large number of computer printouts relating to roofing tests.
6. Research files of ME Lux (boxes 82-85) which consist of research files on air leakage, air infiltration/exfiltration, etc.
7. Research files of Larry Snodgrass (boxes 86- 89) which consist of technical research documents identified in various ways as "G16", "P 25-28," and "PRS Conductivity Probe."
8. Research files of R. Dumont (boxes 90-95) which consists of technical research documents identified in different ways such as "Meadowlark readings, 31 Deborah Retrofit, Multi-family blower door testing, tracer gas studies, house metre readings and Brandon Pressure test."
9. Research files of D. Figley (boxes 96-99) which consist of technical research files identified in different ways such as "PR 5, Enerdemo misc. proposals," etc.
10. Miscellaneous (boxes 100-107), which consist of records of laboratory tests, diaries (lab notes), and correspondence.
11. Research files of Jim Hamilton (boxes 108-146) which consist of an extensive collection of research files in geology, soil, pedology, frost action, corrosion, dams, roads and runways, construction in permafrost, etc."
