The records in this accession consist of files, studies, reports and Transport Canada publications pertaining to the A-Base Review of the Canadian Air Transportation Administration (CATA) initiated in November 1982. In 1982, the Ministers of Treasury Board expressed concern that the CATA's Human Resources Requirements Plan did not define adequately the justification for an increase in resource levels.
Consequently, in November 1982, the Air Administrator established on A-Base Review Task Force with the mandate of reviewing the resource requirements of the CATA for fiscal year 1983-1984.
For purposes of the Review, the Air Administration was divided into five organizational units: Air Navigation Services, Regulatory, Airports and Construction Services, Direction and Administration and Flight Services.
