Collection search - Case files of the Farm Debt Mediation Service, Guelph, Ontario [textual record]

This accession consists of case files created by the Guelph office of the Farm Debt Mediation Service (FDMS) of the department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). When these records were created, AAFC maintained one office at Ottawa headquarters and five regional offices (Fredericton, Quebec City, Guelph, Regina, and Edmonton). From the late 1990s to ca. 2010, the FDMS was part of the Farm Income Protection Directorate.

The Farm Debt Mediation Service provides insolvent farmers and their creditors with mediation services pursuant to the federal Farm Debt Mediation Act (FDMA) and Regulations to help them arrive at a mutually satisfactory arrangement.

Note that this is a 5% random sampling, as recommended by RDA 2001/013 which deals with farm income protection.
