Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by Aviation Regulation Directorate, Ontario Regional Office. The records are engineering and inspection reports aligned with file block 5010 Types - Engineering & Approval.

The Department of Transport delegates authority to various "Design Approval Organizations" (DAOs) so that they can act as a representative of the Minister of Transport when it comes to determining that an aeronautical product design (or parts thereof) complies with airworthiness standards. Companies such as Hawker Siddeley Canada Inc., in turn appoint specific employees (eg. engineers) who accept the responsibility of ensuring that the TC-approved design standards, practices and procedures are carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations. The engineer then submits technical drawings that describe the modification and its compliance with airworthiness standards.

Each file is listed by job number / year - product design - aircraft type (e.g. Job 1/48 - Camera Window - Republic Seabee CF-DKQ, Job 41/49 - Radio Antenna - Piper PA-12).
