Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Communications Research Centre (CRC) of the Department of Communications.

The accession includes, but is not limited to, records from CRC's central file system 1969-1983 related to research and development of: terrestrial and space communications systems; radio propagation; radio communications; domestic and research satellites; space electronics; radar research; fibre optics; space systems; and information sciences related to communications systems.

The accession also contains records related to the development and operations of the Communications Technology Satellite (CTS) or Hermes, including, but not limited to, technical drawings, CTS reports, proposals, specifications, and experimentors and simulation reports.
