This accession consists of photographs created to document the operations of the various Royal Canadian Navy CANCORTRON escort squadrons, operating on both Atlantic and Pacific coasts and in international waters. Subjects depicted include activities and ceremonies in Canadian and foreign ports, and a wide variety of Canadian, NATO, and international naval vessels of all classes. Canadian Escort Squadrons were numbered 1 to 9, and composed of destroyers or Prestonian-Class escorts. Odd-numbered squadrons were based on the East Coast, while even-numbered squadrons were based on the West Coast.
