This is a photograph of Sheouak Petaulassie (1923-1961) and her child. Sheouak was involved with the graphic art production of the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative. She was one the first Inuit to incorporate Southern material culture into her drawings in pieces like "The Pot Spirits" (1960).

Title supplied by the archivist based on inscriptions of similar prints.

Arrangement note:

Print located in sleeve called "Found in 1960 Arctic trip journal / 5 colour photos".

Related material:

This photograph is nearly identical to MIKAN 4324346. There is a slight discrepancy with the dates which could be due to the author reorganizing her material later in life.
