19 mapsLangue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Fonds consists of minutes, financial records, log books and correspondence of the Denholm Angling Club; field notes of part of the Township of Denholm, and a contract between the Denholm Angling Club and Anatole Barbeau in 1904. Photographic material depicts activities of the Denholm Angling Club at Lac St. Germain and near Poltimore, Quebec. Also included in this fonds is the official stamp of the Denholm Angling Club.
Fonds also consists of 19 maps and plans pertaining to the area around the Denholm Angling Club.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Denholm Angling Club : The Denholm Angling Club, a fishing club, was a private fishing club organized and incorporated under the revised statutes of Quebec in 1891. In 1892 the club was granted a fishing lease to Lake St. Germain in Denholm Township, Gatineau County, by the Quebec government. The founding members of the club included Sir George Burn, founder of the Bank of Ottawa, Robert Gill of the Bank of Commerce and S.H. Fleming, eldest son of Sir Sandford Fleming.
Over the years club members included such individuals as Major-General H.A. Panet, Lieutenant-General Maurice Pope, Vice-Admiral H.G. de Wolf, Vice-Admiral E.R. Mainguy and journalist Charles Lynch. In 1971 under a policy of returning leased private recreation areas to public use, the Quebec government cancelled the club's fishing lease.
